Are they really building a mosque on ground zero?

My brother just sent me and email about a huge protest in NYC that was not televised. It included pics of thousands of people protesting a so-called project to build a mosque in or around ground zero (where the twin towers fell). If this is true I would certainly be outraged as well. Anyone have any info regarding the validity of this? All of my co-workers haven
